My jumpshots at Mt. Kinabalu

Daihatsu Cuore transformed

could this be my new weekend ride? maybe or maybe not..hehehe...

Next trip: Bunaken Island

Its a planned trip to Manado, Sulawesi next year probably end of February. This time around its gonna be a snorkeling and island hopping trip. Tapi ani baru plan pulang but usul2 nya ada udah yang interested. But if jadi, I might extend the trip to Gorantalo, which is inda jauh dari Manado since I have an Indonesian friend sana and ia suggest ku explore the islands sana jua..and kalau buleh tah ke Komodo island tarus..atuya..anyway, lets just keep this plan floating..I'm sure and insya'allah menjadi tu karang..

Via Mersilau

Our recent trip climbing the Mt. Kinabalu was via the Timpohon route, a 6.5 km route from the Kinabalu Park to Laban Rata. Insya'allah, next year I plan to conquer the mountain again with the other first timers but it has to be via the Mersilau route since view from that route lagi lawa2 and for sure next time I will bring DSLR camera..hehehe..atu jua lagi inda ketingalan camera ku d rumah nda tah ku tau tu..anyway, I will post the pictures of the recent Mt. kinabalu trip soon..and insya'allah next mountain to conquer jua is Mt. Fansipan (3,143M), the highest mountain in Vietnam..

Mt. Kinabalu stamped

Thursday - August 13, 2009
The seven of us; me, g bui, ayun, wei. abg, puta and beruang conquered Mt.Kinabalu and the feeling on top of the highest peak in S.E Asia was unbelievable and we were totally speechless. The view was majestic and purely breathtaking. It is of course a once in a life time unforgetable experience for the seven of us.

Walter

Dats the name of my team during the Fitness Zone Race 2009 held today..me, khairul, jess and Ron the team leader participated just for fun and for the excitement...Khairul actually called me up as he was looking for someone to complete a team of four for the race..so I agreed..saja2 kan mencuba my fitness and endurance level..jess was the only female team member..Ron actually won first place in 2008 but with a different team members...
so the race kicked off at 7am tadi pagi and we were the last team to register..numbered as team no. 20..since khairul arrived 10 minutes before the race started so apa lagi kami pun kalam kabut lah pasal nya the rest of the teams ready udah..
anyway, it is a 15 km race with some taskings and questions to answer..first stop di pusat KACA in Kiulap..we were team number 3 sampai sana..kepisan eh pasal nya I have to bring along a 5kg bundle of clothes from the starting point at Fitness Zone in Kiulap all the way to the Pusat KACA dekat RIPAS Hospital..Jess took over a few hundred meters kan sampai di Pusat KACA..
From Pusat KACA we have to run to Bangunan Alat2 Kebesaran DiRaja in Bandar, we took a short cut at RIPAS Hospital..overtaking the first and second team..hahaha..sampai the first team berteriak meliat kami ahead of them..hahaha..tiwas nda pandai mencari jalan short cut..the first team ani actuallynya fit2 berabis orang2 nya - 3 guys and 1 girl jua sama mcm kami..
Yatah atu durang membubut kami belari and in the end durang overtook team kami dapan Balai Bomba di Bandar..by the time kami sampai di Royal Regalia..durang kan chow tia..next stop the main Post office in Bandar..yatah kami baru kan sampai di Post Office the first team belari udah for the next pit stop..kami kial2 lakat mencari the answers to the question given at the Post Office..
Once kami dapat the answer..we have to run to Tasek Lama..and the first team nda lagi kenampakan ani bah..laju banar durang belusir..kami pace kami constant saja all the way..then kami sampai di Tasek lama..ada tasking mengira jumlah bola pingpong yang ada arah the small waterfall..the first team masih mengira..lucky for us we got the right answer after the fourth attempt..so apa lagi kami sprint lah meninggalkan the first team tadi...hahahah..next pit stop the Mall in Gadong..from tasek lama kami tarus step up our running pace..leaving the first team tadi behind..kan hampir the Kiulap traffic light one of the team members c Kieren sampai menguyung kami but the rest of his team members masih inda kenampakan..but c Kieren diverted to Kiulap and kami tarus straight menuju round about..
Once sampai round about di Kiarong atu..we took a short through Pasar gadong..and kami melintasi the last pit stop dekat orang bejual bunga2 an..hehehe..so kami tau dah dimana last pit stop..once kami sampai di Mall, we went up to the Fitness Zone on the second floor and did a tasking..few minutes later team c kieren sampai..but kami awal siap so kami sprint to the last pit stop..
At the last pit stop..tasking kami makan ambuyat and minum sekotak basar soya bean sampai abis..luckily I chosed the right ambuyat and ngam sedikit..tapi ku makan sekali saja sal cacah nya inda nyaman..rasa kan muntah oleh nya..so the ambuyat atu durang tah ngabiskan..hahaha..I feel sorry for them..
Anyway, once abis we sprinted back to Fitness Zone in Kiulap sal once sana we have to face some obstacles before we can actually finish and win the race..once sampai sana I took the honor of doing the first obstacles since ku inda makan ambuyat..cycling for 2 miles on a stationary bike..around 1.5 miles team c kieren baru sampai..second obstacle as soon as I finished the 2 mile cycling c khairul has to carry c jess across the court for 5 times..then finally once atu accomplished..c ron mesti memasuk kan the ball into the basket..he did it on the fourth throw..and kami apa lagi tarus berteriak..coz we won the race..woohooo..siapa sangka the last team to register came first and won the race..what a challenge and what a day..
We r not sure pulang apa hadiah nya but i hope its a one year free membership di fitness zone...hehehe..anyway overall it was fun and exciting..

Reviewing gym membership

With the current air quality over Brunei as far as the haze is concerned, it is obviously not good and wise to do routine outdoor activities for now. Kemarin atu macam teruk jerebu nya mun ada habuk2 berterabangan. If the current air conditions remain, usul2 nya it is time to re-join the gym membership kali eh, at least running on treadmill will do as long as dapat belusir..hehe..kalau rasa nya kan naik bukit, the step machine ada..sama jua tu effect nya...or maybe outdoor activities can still carry on providing one has to wear a mask but nda lamas breathing kan tu esp. when doing a run?

A MUST READ: Haze - Health Effects

Fine particle pollution, that contributes to regional haze, can affect people's health. People most at risk include those with:
  • heart disease,
  • lung disease,
  • respiratory conditions (including asthma), and
  • diabetes,
  • older adults and children.

Fine particles are deposited deep into lungs where they can accumulate on the surface or be absorbed by underlying tissue and enter the bloodstream. People with heart or lung diseases and respiratory conditions, such as coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, and asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, are at increased risk of serious effects, because particles can aggravate these diseases.

In people with heart disease, particles have been linked to heart attacks and cardiac arrythmias (irregular heart rhythms). Recent evidence suggests that some of these cardiac effects may result from very short-term exposures, possibly as short as one hour.

People with diabetes may be at increased risk of serious effects from regional haze, possibly because of underlying cardiovascular disease.

Older adults are at increased risk from regional haze possibly because they may have undiagnosed heart or lung disease or diabetes.

Children are likely to be at risk from regional haze for a number of reasons. For example, they may be more vulnerable to fine particles because their lungs are still developing. Also, children's breathing rates can be as much as twice as rapid as adults under resting conditions, and children tend to have far higher activity levels than adults on any given day, which will result in more particles being deposited in their developing lungs.

Long-term (years) exposure of healthy people to particles has been associated with reduced lung function and the development of chronic bronchitis.

People's chances of being affected by particles increase the longer they are active outdoors and the more strenuous their activity. This is because the harder we work or exercise, the more rapidly we breathe and greater concentrations of particles reach the deepest and most sensitive areas of the lungs.

People involved in an activity that requires heavy or prolonged exertion can reduce the time they spend on the activity or substitute another activity that requires less exertion, especially on days when particle pollution levels are elevated. For example, walking instead of jogging to reduce the impact of fine particles on their health.

Symptoms of exposture to fine particles include the following:

Even healthy people may experience temporary symptoms from exposure to elevated levels of particles. Symptoms may include: irritation of the eyes, nose and throat, coughing, phlegm, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.

People with lung disease may not breathe as deeply or as vigorously as normal, and may experience respiratory symptoms including: coughing, phlegm, chest discomfort, wheezing, shortness of breath, and unusual fatigue. These symptoms are an indication to reduce exposure and to follow the advice of their doctor.

People with heart disease can have serious effects, such as heart attacks, with no warning symptoms. If people with heart disease have symptoms such as chest pain or tightness, palpitations, shortness of breath, or unusual fatigue, these may indiacte a serious problem and should follow the advice of their doctor.

Asthmatics should already have an asthma action plan that they routinely follow, but may need to follow it more carefully when particle levels are high.

The Mother of Mohammed

I have been trying to find a paperback of this book when I was away. Somehow, this book was out of stock in all of the bookstores I went to.
Born and raised in Mudgee, New South Wales, Rabiah Hutchinson seems an unlikely jihadist. But this former country girl turned marijuana-smoking beach bunny and hippy backpacker is a veteran of the global holy war. To Western intelligence analysts she is 'the matriarch of radical Islam'. Hutchinson spent four years working as a doctor in a mujahideen hospital and orphanage on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the early 1990s. She later returned to Afghanistan under the Taliban and married a leading al-Qaeda ideologue and member of Osama bin Laden's inner circle. Her fellow jihadists know her as 'Umm Mohammed', meaning the mother of Mohammed. Today Rabiah Hutchinson is one of the most watched women in the world. She believes she's under 24-hour surveillance, her home and telephone bugged. She is officially designated as 'a threat to national security', and prevented from travelling abroad. So who is this mysterious black-veiled woman, with the broad Australian accent and fiery Scottish temperament? This is Rabiah Hutchinson's story.

The next target

I have been wanting to buy the polar watch since I've been an active runner since the past two years..the polar watches used to be sold at the Fitness Zone but they don't sell it anymore..anyway, the nearest shop I can buy this watch is in Singapore..kalau ada online bisai..just a matter of a click..

The Taking of Pelham 123

Maaan! John Travolta should be the villain of the century..I can't imagine if he was the Joker in the latest Batman movie..lagi tia mental kali..anyway, the movie is quite not bad actually..ada jua part2 cali atu but the ending was predictable..I watched it last nite at Qlap cineplex..there were around16 of us watching the movie plus with other people lah..anyway, G.I Joe will be the next MUST SEE movie...I think the movie will be released soon..anyway, yatah pasla last night ani masa ku membali tikets for the movie, the guy behind the counter asked me if I got a motorbike...hahaha..I sed if I have one, there must be a helmet in hand..hehe..I think the reason he asked was because of my black adidas windbreaker since almost everyone tot I had a bike..then ftr the movie we went to TK Menglait and ngam many bikers lepak2 sana..I noticed that they all were looking at me, must be the windbreaker again..hahaha..esok2 tah ku mebali motorbike nah!..hahaha..
